Silves Cine‑Theatre Club held its annual Christmas Dinner Dance on December 8, raising a total of €974 for local charity Castelo de Sonhos.
The money will be used to buy food, shoes and hygiene products for adults and babies – all items urgently needed to help poor families in the local community.
Eighty people, including Castelo de Sonhos volunteers, attended the dinner and danced the night away to rock band The Past Masters.
The event was held at the Amorosa Social Club, which loaned the club free of charge as the roof of the old cinema in Silves collapsed during the recent tornado.
The Silves Cine-Theatre Club volunteers are searching for new rent-free premises for future fundraising events.
