This summer’s longest night is set to be celebrated in style, with the traditional Banho 29 nighttime sea dip party taking place in two locations at once: Lagos and Praia da Luz.
In Lagos, the action will centre around Cais da Solaria and Praia da Batata. The day begins with a historical re-creation of the Banho 29 custom by the Lagos Study Centre, before the fun spreads to Jardim da Constituição. There, the Algarve Jazz Orchestra Trio and DJ André Salgueiro will provide the soundtrack to the evening, followed by a swimsuit contest with a “Fashion and Innovation” twist. On the Solaria stage, a second show will spotlight competitors in the Traditional Swimwear Contest.

The headline performance comes from singer Rebeca, leading into a firework display and the traditional midnight swim. The night will continue as revellers will be dancing to 80s hits until the early hours.
The event is organised by the local council alongside ACRAL, the Lagos Moto Club, and the Barlavento Crafts Association. Part of the riverside avenue Avenida dos Descobrimentos will be closed from 8pm to 1.30am between the BP petrol station and the volunteer firefighter station.
Meanwhile, in Praia da Luz, festivities will take place along Avenida dos Pescadores and the beachfront, led by the Luzense Cultural and Recreational Club with municipal support. Three stages – Rocha Negra, Tradicional, and Sunset – will host a packed lineup of live music.
To make access easier, all rides on the A ONDA bus network will be free from 6pm, with a special municipal shuttle running continuously between Tecnopolis school and Vila da Luz until 2.30am.
Both parties are free to attend.
