Dozens of shots fired at family home in Silves

Investigators believe a machine gun may have been used

Dozens of gunshots were fired at a house in Enxerim, Silves late on Saturday night (January 3) while a family, including two children, was inside.

According to SIC, two hooded men arrived at the scene shortly before midnight and opened fire on the façade of the property before fleeing on foot.

The attack was captured by a neighbouring home’s CCTV camera, which recorded the sound of the rapid gunfire. Residents told authorities the suspects appeared to be carrying at least one firearm.

Despite the violent attack, no injuries were reported. Neighbours told SIC they were shocked by the incident in what they say is usually a quiet area.

Based on the audio captured by the CCTV camera and the bullet marks left in the wall, investigators suspect a machine gun may have been used.

The suspects have not yet been identified. The case is in the hands of the PJ criminal police force.
