Over the past two weeks, Cadela Carlota held a special charity sale and photo exhibition at Armazém Regimental in Lagos. The event combined fundraising with a clear message: behind every rescue animal, there’s a story worth telling.
Photographer and author Carlos Filipe, together with his dog Boris, once again played a key role. Carlos visited our shelter to photograph the dogs and cats in our care, capturing their individual expressions and quiet personalities.
His portraits became the centrepiece of the exhibition “Eyes That Ask / Olhos que Perguntam” – a striking collection that shows the reality of shelter life through the eyes of the animals themselves.
These images now feature in our new 2026 calendar, available for €7 at our charity shops and other business partners – Frente & Verso, vet clinics, the international book shop, etc. Every photo was taken by Carlos, whose ongoing support and creative dedication have helped bring greater visibility to the work we do and to the many animals still waiting for homes.
One of the dogs featured is Bobi, a seven-year-old whose owner had to move into a retirement home. Bobi is affectionate, curious and independent – a great companion for someone looking for a loyal friend. Like so many others, he’s waiting for a new start.
The two-week event raised €6,463.70 in sales and €1,194.48 in donations, thanks to everyone who contributed. More than 30 volunteers gave their time – both at the venue and at the shelter – ensuring everything ran smoothly while the daily care of our animals continued without interruption.
We’d like to thank Carlos Filipe for his time, skill and generosity, and everyone who visited, donated or helped behind the scenes. The Armazém Regimental event is now closed, but the calendar lives on — and every purchase supports the animals in our care.
You can now buy the calendar for €7 at our Cadela Carlota charity shops – a simple way to support the shelter while enjoying a beautiful piece of work created entirely from real rescue stories.
