Fine dining restaurant manager missing in Algarve

Car found days later as police investigate possible abduction

A senior manager at a luxury restaurant in the Algarve has been missing since Friday night, with police now investigating the case amid fears he may have been abducted.

PJ criminal police in the Algarve are leading the investigation into the disappearance of Ricardo Claro, a manager at the high-end Well restaurant in Vale do Lobo, in the municipality of Loulé.

According to reports in the national press, the businessman was last seen on Friday evening after having dinner at his mother’s home in Faro. He reportedly left at around 9pm and has not been seen since.

His car, a Peugeot 2008, was found on Tuesday afternoon in Olhão, following several public appeals by his family, particularly his sister, who shared information widely on social media.

By early evening, authorities had not found any evidence that placed Ricardo Claro near the vehicle. The car will now be examined by investigators.

“I know from his bank cards that he was robbed,” his sister, Sandra Primitivo, wrote in one of several posts asking for help in locating him.

Ricardo Claro, aged around 50 and a law graduate, currently serves as Administrative and Human Resources Manager at the Well restaurant in Vale do Lobo. He also previously worked for nearly a decade as editor at Postal, a regional newspaper in the Algarve.
