At the recent Portugal Masters, which took place last weekend at the Oceânico Victoria course in Vilamoura, the Algarve’s golfing group, Golf for Greys, contributed tremendously to the smooth and successful running of the popular event.
Prior to the tournament, the group took on the hefty challenge, for the sixth year, of sourcing a complete team of golf marshals and score board holders to work voluntarily during the four days of the Portugal Masters event.
Stepping up to the plate, Golf for Greys pulled off the task and supplied close to 400 marshals, and 30 score board holders, who all supported and manned the event from tee-off until tournament-end.
Sean Hawker, Managing Director of Golf for Greys, told the Algarve Resident: “All of our volunteers did a great job. The marshals’ primary responsibility was to maintain crowd control and noise levels, of which they did outstandingly. I would like to send many thanks to Sandra Slater for taking the time to help Golf for Greys with our organisation of volunteers leading up to the event.
“It wasn’t easy to find such a great number of people to do the job on a voluntary basis, but we pulled it off, and it was great to see many people return for the sixth year, after travelling not only from across the Algarve, but from other countries to participate in the event. All volunteers thoroughly enjoyed their experience at the Portugal Masters,” he added.
Golf for Greys’ volunteers, varying in age, were provided with a daily complimentary lunch and uniform, in addition to a free-of-charge personal round of golf with buggy at the Victoria course.
Oceânico’s Marketing Manager Rita Santos said: “Assistance and help provided by the Golf for Greys group was infallible and massively appreciated by the Oceânico Group. They greatly assisted towards the overall organisation of the Portugal Masters and ensured that everything ran just as planned.”
