Guest speaker Alexandra Gradim will be talking about her work over the past 14 years in Alcoutim during the next lectures from the Algarve Archaeological and Historical Association (AAA) to be held on March 1.
Alcoutim was an important river port and the municipality contains significant evidence of a human presence that dates back to prehistoric times.
There are Roman remains, dolmens and menhirs, deep shaft mines and galleries, and vestiges of walls of fortified villages all within the municipality and the talk will focus on the finds in the area including a very important archaeological site situated near to Luz in the upper north east of the Algarve.
The first lecture of the day will be held at the museum of São Brás at 2.30pm while the second will be held at the convent in Lagoa at 6.30pm.
The lectures will be presented in English and admission is free to members of the AAA and costs €5 for guests.
