Hunting in Portugal is on the wane, with 3,000 people already failing the permit examination this year.
Jacinto Amaro, president of the Portuguese Federation of Hunting, Fencaça, said: “Hunting is losing about 10,000 members per year, a number that causes
great concern.”
He said that the main reason for the drop is the paperwork required by legislation to renew the hunter’s licence and in obtaining permission to use and carry a gun.
“This process now involves so much paperwork, travel and money that many hunters often opt out,” he said.
