A new international karting track will officially be opening to the public on July 3 following a soft opening period at the Algarve Motor Park near Portimão.
The track, which cost 11 million euros to create and is one of the largest in Europe, is due to be inaugurated on July 3 to coincide with the venue hosting the first race of the 2010 WSK World Series karting season. Further races will be held on July 4 taking place at the same time as the World Touring Car Championship being held on the main circuit at the Motor Park.
Paulo Pinheiro, CEO of the Algarve Motor Park, said: “The karting track will have three lanes running simultaneously with a separate one for children. The longest circuit measures 1.6kms and is classed as a Grade 3 race track.
“We are very pleased to be able to complete this project at the Algarve Motor Park according to the original ideas and plans.”
The track will be open to both individuals and groups, who will be able to take advantage of the 168 different routes around the circuit while driving one of the 60 karts available to use at the track.
