PJ police have arrested a 55-year-old man in Lagos on strong suspicion of stabbing another man to death in what investigators describe as a crime of “passion”.
According to the PJ’s Criminal Investigation Department in Portimão, the suspect believed the victim, 67, was romantically involved with his former partner – a situation he “refused to accept”. When he confronted the man late on Tuesday afternoon, the situation escalated to the point where he attacked the victim with a kitchen knife and a wheel wrench.
The victim suffered fatal founds to the chest and head and died at the scene, investigators say.
The suspect, who already has a criminal record, has been detained and is set to appear before a judge.
The case is being led by the Lagos branch of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
