Suspects have been ‘intercepted’ by police
An off-duty PSP police agent has been stabbed in the head today in what sounds like an incident of ‘road rage’ in Prior Velho, Loures (Greater Lisbon).
Three suspects have since been ‘intercepted by security forces’, reports SIC, which is still updating this story.
Observador online describes the policeman’s condition as “serious” but he is conscious, and his injuries are not life-threatening.
Observador explains that the incident developed out of an argument over a parking place in Rua Maestro Lopes Graça.
“Various adjacent streets” were blocked off by PSP police following the attack, which is how the three suspects came to be intercepted.
Another online (SAPO) suggests the policeman was stabbed in the neck, not the head – and that he is the police chief at the 5th Squadron of Criminal Investigation.
After the attack, he was quickly assisted by a VMER (medical emergency team) and then transported to Hospital de S. José.
The three suspects have been arrested.
