The French Open got under way in Paris last Sunday afternoon without any Portuguese participation other than in the umpire’s chair. While Carlos Ramos is presiding over the renewed rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, Rui Machado, Frederico Gil, Leonardo Tavares and Michelle Brito all failed to come through the qualifying rounds of the second Grand Slam tournament of the season. One man who is still involved is Andy Murray- the British world No4 came from two sets down to overcome first round opponent Richard Gasquet.
