PJ police investigate “professional hit” in Rio Tinto, Gondomar

António Cabreira, known as Valquírio, linked to international drug trafficking, and a recent fatal shooting

“Execution in luxury car” – this is how tabloid Correio da Manhã presents the fatal shooting in Rio Tinto, Gondomar, yesterday of a local figure “linked to international drug trafficking” as well as the fatal shooting earlier this year of a young man outside a bar in nearby Porto.

Reading between the lines, everyone identified in this story appears to be already ‘known to police’.

Yesterday’s victim was António Cabreira – a man known as Valquírio (Valkyrie) and the uncle of the suspect, Daniel ‘Cenoura’ (carrot)  in the fatal shooting of Josué Maia (known as ‘Boxista’: boxer), outside a Porto bar, in May.

According to the paper, since the killing of ‘Boxista’, the young man’s family has been promising vengeance. Thus, yesterday’s fatal shooting (in the neck and eye) of António Cabreira may have been this. Police have to work through all the evidence.

Yesterday’s crime took place at a service station, close to the area where people vacuumed the inside of their vehicles, explains CM.

It happened some time around 1pm. Apparently, an employee at the service station wondered why a car was remaining stationary with its door open, and went to investigate.

Police have interviewed potential witnesses and are checking CCTV images of the service station to see if these can help clarify exactly what happened, and who may have been involved.
