Portuguese climber João Garcia reached the summit of Nepal’s Annapurna earlier this month, conquering the 10th highest mountain in the world, at 8,091 metres.
He becomes the first Portuguese to climb all 14 of the world’s highest mountains without any oxygen support. He is the 10th person to achieve this feat.
João Garcia left Lisbon for Nepal on March 10 and on April 17 reached the peak.
The final attack on the summit lasted almost 10 hours, including a difficult traverse of an ice corridor 200 metres from the top.
