Rosado wins IGT 2011 opening event

Portuguese golfer António Rosado won the Pestana Gramacho TGC Open with a final round of 66, six under par.

The tournament, held between January 12 and 14 at the course in Carvoeiro, saw Rosado shoot a three-round total of 205, 11 under par, beating Sean Hawker, who finished in second, by two shots and the overnight leader Hugo Santos who took third place with 208.

António Rosado said of his first win on the IGT tour: “The Gramacho greens are probably the best in the Algarve right now and are a testament to the hard work and effort put in by all the Pestana green staff.”

He added: “Holing my putts made all the difference, but it is great to be able to compete against my fellow pros and the TGC amateurs and come out on top.”

The next leg of the IGT is due to be completed today (Friday) at the Pestana Silves golf course, followed by the Pestana Vila Sol Pro Am on January 23, an event which aims to give local amateurs the chance to meet and compete with IGT professionals and leading TGC student golfers.
