Sky-high dining concept to debut in Lisbon before national tour

Suspended dining experience will also be brought to Algarve, Porto and Aveiro

A dining experience created for food lovers seeking a new thrill is arriving in Portugal, offering meals served 50 metres above the ground on a suspended platform.

Created by Portuguese company Sky Lounge, the experience involves diners eating at a table lifted by crane, seating 22 people at a time. In total, each event will host up to 180 guests across several sessions.

Each session is led by a guest chef who prepares a tasting menu live at the centre of the table while it is suspended in the air. The seats rotate to allow diners to take in the full view during the experience.

The first event will take place in Lisbon, in the Belém area, between May 29 and May 31, led by chef Chakall. From the elevated platform, guests will have panoramic views over landmarks such as the Belém Tower, the Belém Palace and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos.

Following the Lisbon launch, the experience will travel to other locations across the country. In Porto, sessions will be led by Ricardo Costa, executive chef of The Yeatman and holder of two Michelin stars. In the Algarve (in a town yet to be announced), the experience will feature Noélia Jerónimo, known for her restaurant in Cabanas de Tavira. In Aveiro, the sessions will be hosted by Tony Martins, named Chef of the Year in 2020.

“We want to offer a pioneering experience that combines gastronomy and showmanship with a privileged view over some of the most emblematic cities in the country,” said Francisco Mendonça, founder and CEO of Sky Lounge.

“More than a meal, it is a complete sensorial experience, which will be available in Portugal only in these limited editions,” he added.

Prices are set at €145 for lunch sessions and €175 for dinner. Reservations can be made on the Sky Lounge website.
