Sporting will face Celtic on July 16 and Sunderland on July 21
Football fans in the Algarve are in for a treat this July as Portuguese champions Sporting CP returns to the region to prepare for the new season.
The Lisbon giants, under the guidance of head coach Rui Borges, will face two high-profile British opponents at the Estádio do Algarve (Algarve Stadium)as part of the Desafios Betano pre-season friendlies.
The first match comes on July 16 at 7.30pm, against none other than Celtic FC, the Scottish champions led by Brendan Rodgers and featuring Portuguese talents Jota and Paulo Bernardo.
Five days later, on July 21 at 8pm, the Lions will face newly promoted Premier League side Sunderland AFC.
Tickets for both matches are already on sale online, with prices starting at €20, giving fans of both the Portuguese champions and the British sides an opportunity to see their teams up close in the Algarve.
Organised by Singular Sport, two other pre-season friendlies will also take place at the Algarve Stadium in July, both featuring Seville FC, which will take on Birmingham City on July 12 and Sunderland AFC on July 19. Both matches start at 8pm.
