An Algarve man, who supplied to the drinks trade for 70 years of his business life but never personally drank a drop of alcohol, celebrated his 100th birthday on December 16.
Manuel Madeira Caetano, born in Loulé, confessed that he once tried the local firewater medronho but didn’t like it.
He also revealed that he has never had to take any medicine over the years. Manuel, who was driving a car until the age of 94, enjoyed a birthday celebration with family at the Seu Café in Faro of which he is one of the founders.
His secret of a long life? A daily walk and never failing to read the daily newspaper Correio da Manhã.
