The Algarveans Experimental Theatre Group are this year celebrating 21 years of providing quality amateur theatre for the English speaking public in the Algarve – and it isn’t stopping any time soon, said a spokesman for the group.
When the successful autumn production of the comedy Hi-de-Hi finished in October, auditions were held the very next week for the February 2013 pantomime Robinson Crusoe which is now in full rehearsal (more details available soon).
On December 7 – the group will be holding a Christmas party for all its members and their guests to celebrate “in style” 21 years of fun and entertainment and there are many more plans for social as well as theatre events throughout the coming year.

On November 23, Algarveans chairman Lloyd Delderfield and treasurer Steve Dackombe (pictured) took time out to fulfil a childhood wish to ride in a fire engine and present the Bombeiros of Lagoa with two masks and oxygen cylinders from money raised by the group.
This important equipment enables the fire fighters to enter into dangerous situations both protected and able to breathe safely in the smoke filled air as they rescue injured and unconscious people. Each mask costs €1,200.
Jenny Grainer from the Algarveans said: “We are always looking for new members for a variety of different jobs or just as supporters to join in the fun.”
