The FÉRTIL (Fertile) Festival is back in Olhão this October for its third edition, bringing together nature, art, innovation and community in a unique setting – the region’s beloved Ria Formosa Natural Park . From October 4 to 5, between 11am and 9pm, the historic Chalé João Lúcio, nestled in the heart of the park, will once again transform into a meeting point where tradition meets the future, organisers say.
This year’s programme will put music at the centre of the celebrations once more, with BANDUA performing on October 4 and emmy Curl on October 5, supported by DJs who will keep the rhythm flowing across the two days.
Alongside the music, the festival’s learning area offers a diverse line-up of workshops and talks. Themes already confirmed include caring for the soil, people and the future; ecological sanitation, led by the team from Eco Aldeia do Vale; a talk on art and sustainability; a lecture on communities; an introduction to the traditional craft of empreita (palm weaving); insights into the Burro Algarvio (the Algarve donkey); and a guided interpretive walk organised by the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF).
FÉRTIL doesn’t forget its younger visitors either: children’s activities will run throughout the entire event, helping to plant the seeds of sustainability early.
New for 2025 is an Innovation and Technology stage, hosted by Dengun, the festival’s official innovation partner, as well as a networking zone powered by the LOFT Community, designed to spark creative connections and collaborations.
The full programme will soon be available on the festival’s social media channels, but the organisers have already set the tone: “FÉRTIL is more than an event; it is a meeting point for those who believe in a sustainable future, where technology, culture and community walk hand in hand with environmental preservation.”
