Vila do Bispo’s favourite sea delicacy takes centre stage this weekend
The Festival do Perceve is back to Vila do Bispo this weekend, promising three days of the most delicious seafood that the western Algarve has to offer and live music.
The event is inspired by ‘perceves’ (goose barnacles), the beloved sea creature which is a staple of Costa Vicentina cuisine.
Taking place from Friday to Sunday (June 27-29) near the São Vicente school, the event will kick off every day at 5pm on the first day and 1pm on the weekend and will run late into the night.
Apart from the food stalls selling regional delicacies and dishes, there will be live music, with headlining acts HMB (Friday), the M80 Party featuring classic 80s hits (Saturday) and Maninho (Sunday).
Craft stalls, a kids zone and other attractions are also promised by organisers.
Organised by Vila do Bispo municipal council in partnership with the Association of Shellfish Harvesters of Vila do Bispo and Costa Vicentina, the event aims to promote the “unique flavours of the Costa Vicentina” and pay tribute to the local men and women who harvest them, sometimes at great personal risk.
Tickets, costing €4 for one day or €9 for a three-day pass, can be purchased online at Ticketline, or at the municipal treasury (until June 27 at 3pm) or the festival box office (until 7pm on June 29).
