Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve has launched a new partnership with international sports management company LUX Tennis, bringing an expanded racquet sports programme to the resort’s Racket Club and marking the brand’s first collaboration in mainland Portugal.
The partnership will be inaugurated with a LUX Tennis Star Event featuring former world No. 5 Tommy Robredo, who will lead on-court sessions for guests between March 28 and April 4.

Founded in 2017, LUX Tennis operates racquet sports programmes in more than 45 luxury resorts worldwide, specialising in tennis, padel and pickleball experiences.
Located on the cliffs of Porches, in the municipality of Lagoa, Vilalara’s Racket Club features three tennis courts, one padel court and two pickleball courts. Under the new programme, guests will have access to private lessons, group sessions, social clinics and open court bookings, catering to players of different ages and levels.
The partnership also introduces Junior Racquet Camps, offering structured training programmes for children and teenagers aged between 4 and 16, combining technical coaching with coordination exercises and recreational activities.
The first major highlight of the new initiative will be Robredo’s visit to the resort. The former Spanish tennis star – winner of 12 ATP Tour titles, including the Hamburg Masters, and a member of Spain’s Davis Cup-winning teams – will lead training sessions and match-play experiences with guests. The programme will include group sessions, private coaching opportunities and a meet-and-greet with participants.

Vilalara is offering a three-night stay package from €573 per person, based on a double suite, with limited availability for guests wishing to book private sessions with Robredo.
Daniel Albarran, general manager of Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve, said the initiative builds on the resort’s long-standing connection to racquet sports.
“The Racket Club has been part of Vilalara’s story since the late 1960s. At the time it was a true social club – guest tournaments, energy around the courts, encounters that began with a match and ended with shared dinners between strangers. That idea of community, movement and joy has never disappeared,” he said.
“Our partnership with LUX Tennis allows us to honour that legacy while elevating it with a consistent programme and exceptional technical level, ensuring every stay feels like ‘this only happens here’. The presence of Tommy Robredo, and other names we will reveal throughout the year, gives our guests something rare: the opportunity to experience the spirit of the game up close, sharing the court, socialising and playing with tennis stars who have shaped several decades of the sport – just as Vilalara has marked generations since 1966,” he adds.
Additional Star Events featuring professional players are expected to take place throughout the year as part of the new programme.
