The Vila Joya two star Michelin restaurant in the Algarve, which is headed by chef Dieter Koschina, has been ranked among the world’s top 50 restaurants in an event entitled “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” held at the Guildhall in London and organised by the British magazine Restaurant.
The ceremony, which takes place each year, is sponsored by S Pellegrino & Acqua Panna and the list is created by an influential group of some 800 opinion leaders in 27 various regions of the globe based on their gastronomy experiences.
They comprise of journalists, chefs, restaurant directors and gastronomy experts who submit their judgments over an 18-month period.
Vila Joya was ranked in 37th place, compared to 45th in 2012, and the resort was also distinguished this year for the seventh consecutive year as the “World’s Leading Boutique Resort” by World Travel Awards.
