GNR Loulé and Safe Communities Algarve have launched a campaign promoting crime prevention during the festive season.
GNR officers from the Safe Residence Programme in Loulé and David Thomas from Safe Communities Algarve will be on hand at Apolónia supermarket in the mornings of December 21 and 22, providing crime prevention advice and leaflets on keeping safe this Christmas and New Year.
This will cover areas such as home protection, precautions to take when leaving your property empty, the dangers of drink driving and safe commerce.
This will be the first time the two organisations have held such an event.
David Thomas said: “Unfortunately the days leading up to Christmas and New Year are times when criminals like to celebrate as well, by lining their Christmas stockings with stolen goods.
“This is the time of the year when businesses close, leaving empty premises, and people tend to carry more cash when Christmas shopping. It is also a time when drink driving cases rise, posing a risk to public safety.”
