CheLagoense badminton Olympian Telma Santos journeyed to far-flung Botswana in search of further world ranking points last weekend.
The Portuguese number one together with national teammate Sónia Gonçalves were left to their own devices upon arrival in the tiny independent South African state as their hotel was overbooked.
After arranging for alternative accommodation, Santos proved up to the challenge, eliminating top seed Grace Gabriel prior to beating Elma de Villiers 21-4, 21-11 in the final.
Following her previous victories in Israel and Marocco, the 30-year-old has now risen to No150 in the world, a position she is currently trying to further improve on at the South Africa Open which got under way in Pretoria yesterday (Thursday).
