Albufeira Carpe Nox is back to close out 2025 with a bang. Promising the biggest New Year party in Portugal, the event will bring the town’s beachside square Praça dos Pescadores to life with a major end of year celebration.
Iconic Portuguese band Silence 4 will be the headlining musical guest, taking the stage at 10pm to celebrate their 30-year career.
After the concert, the new X stage debuts, featuring DJ Guga in a live show synced with planes, paramotors, pyrotechnics and special effects. As part of the show, 200 illuminated giant balls will be released over the crowd. Meanwhile, Flying Dragons – eight world champion paramotor pilots – return with a spectacular aerial show. The night will end with a performance by DJ Wilson Honrado.
A novelty this year will be a New Year’s Day concert, featuring Portugal’s popular band Quatro e Meia at 5pm.
The program was unveiled on September 26 at Kimpton Atlântico Algarve’s rooftop. Attendees included local officials, entrepreneurs, and municipal leaders.
“We bet on quality, diversity, and innovation. Albufeira Carpe Nox is different from the usual New Year’s shows of fireworks and music,” said Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo at the event.
“The setting, Praia dos Pescadores, is unique and inimitable,” he said, adding that the additional events that are part of the New Year programme, such as Paderne Medieval, a medieval fair to be held from December 31 to January 4, or Street Food Sem Fronteiras, a street food festival scheduled between December 31 and January 3, convince visitors to stay even longer in Albufeira, boosting hotels, restaurants and local businesses.
As usual, Rolo called businesses to remain open during this period to “show a positive, high-quality image of the destination year-round.”
Producer João Costa from Tavolanostra said the main challenge has been to “maintain and exceed event quality.
“As the mayor said, we diversify and innovate each year to surprise and captivate our audience. Last year’s New Year’s event was Portugal’s largest artistic production, cementing Albufeira Carpe Nox as a national and international cultural brand. It’s essential to keep surprising and innovating,” said Costa.
Desidério Silva, head of the Albufeira promotion agency APAL, also commented on the success of Albufeira Carpe Nox, which he said builds on a legacy starting with the town’s first outdoor New Year’s in 2002–2003.
“As partners of the town and Carpe Nox, we highlight that Albufeira hosts the biggest New Year’s celebration in Portugal and among the largest in Europe. We congratulate the municipality for its investment and the collaboration of local businesses. This event’s location is unique, and Albufeira’s New Year is unmatched.”
