The countdown has begun for the return of the World Superbike Championship to the Algarve.
The second round of the championship will take place at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão from March 27 to 29 and is attracting more interest than in recent years, according to the racetrack’s management, with ticket sales set to surpass those from recent years.
Motorsports lovers are in for an intense and action-packed weekend, with four categories taking to the track: Superbike, Supersport, Sportbike and WCR. Particular attention will be on the Superbike class, in which Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (formerly a MotoGP rider) will compete.
Meanwhile, the Sportbike category will make its debut at the circuit. In total, nine races will be held across Saturday and Sunday, creating the special atmosphere that World Superbike is known for.
A key part of that experience is the open paddock, where fans can get close to the teams and riders, enjoy entertainment throughout the weekend and witness the podium ceremonies, which traditionally take place there.
“Superbike has a very special atmosphere and a unique closeness with the fans. All the entertainment is centred in the paddock and, together with the championship organiser, we will once again create moments and activities for the whole family, because SBK really is a celebration of motorcycling for everyone,” said Miguel Praia, administrator of the Algarve International Circuit.
Tickets for the event are available on the Algarve International Circuit website, with prices starting at €32.50.
