The next Amigos de Música concert season 2025/26 will begin on September 23 and 25, featuring the well-known and versatile Australian pianist Piers Lane, artistic director of the International Sydney International Piano Competition, who will come from London to play for the Amigos for the ninth time.
The venue is the charming Auditorium of Os Agostos country estate, near Santa Bárbara de Nexe.
On Tuesday, September 23, Piers Lane will be playing all of Chopin’s Nocturnes, and on Thursday, September 25, works by Bach, Schubert, Debussy and Liszt.
During the first six months of 2025, the Amigos de Música organised 10 concerts at the charming Auditorium of Os Agostos. Audiences enjoyed a series of exceptional artists who had come from as far as Iceland, Norway, France, England, and Germany to play for the pleasure of the Friends of Music of the Algarve. All concerts were fully booked and there were waiting lists for each concert.
During the hot summer months of July and August, the Amigos de Música concerts took a well-deserved break.
The gates at Os Agostos open at 6pm for the concerts starting at 7pm. Tickets are reserved in advance (reservations open from September 8) and include refreshments and drinks before the concert and during the intervals.
In October 2025, Amigos expect two other concerts with a piano and violin duo from Slovenia, followed by two recitals by another well-known Russian piano duet from London in November and a French solo pianist coming for the first time in December 2025.
Summer is the ideal moment to consider joining the Amigos de Música, an international group of music enthusiasts based in the Algarve. “Our non-profit organisation organizes 18 concerts a year with musicians of international acclaim. As a member, you pay a lump sum of €250, and you will be invited to attend some or all of the 18 concerts. We also welcome additional sponsorship for a scholarship program supporting needy and promising young Portuguese musicians.”
The Association of Amigos de Música formed in 1991 and boasts around 120 members.
