Amigos de Música present violin and flute duo from Slovenia

The next Amigos de Música concerts in October feature a “remarkable”violin and flute duo from Slovenia: Lana Trotovsek and Boris Bizjak.

“Together, they bring virtuosity, elegance, and poetic expression to the concert platform, enchanting audiences worldwide,” say the Amigos in a press statement.

On Tuesday, October 14, their programme features works by Bach, Mozart and Debussy and Prokofiev, and on Thursday, October 16, they will be playing works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Glière and Händel.

Praised by The Strad as “remarkable”, Slovenian violinist Lana Trotovšek is a recipient of the 2021 Prešeren Fund Award of the Republic of Slovenia and has appeared with the London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, and Mariinsky orchestras. A member of the Greenwich Trio and a celebrated festival soloist, she performs on a rare 1750 Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa violin.

Boris Bizjak
Boris Bizjak

Acclaimed flautist Boris Bizjak is Principal Flute of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and English Touring Opera. His accolades include first prize at the European Flute Competition in Picardy (France) and multiple national awards at TEMSIG competitions (Slovenia). A prize-winning soloist, he has performed worldwide from London to Kyoto, captivating audiences with his luminous tone and artistry.

Concerts are held at Os Agostos, near Santa Bárbara de Nexe. The doors open at 6pm and the concerts start at 7pm. Tickets are reserved in advance and include refreshments and drinks before the concert and during the intervals.

The Association of Amigos de Música, formed in 1991 as a non-profit organisation, is an international group of around 120 members who stage musical activities by internationally renowned musicians. In 1994, the Amigos started a scholarship program for needy and promising Portuguese musicians.
