International artist Ana António Gill unveils a selection of her expressive and resonant paintings at the Municipal Gallery in São Brás de Alportel on Thursday, April 2. Coinciding with the town’s famous, annual flower festival, Ana’s contemporary paintings explore the sensitivity and complexity of the human experience, revealing how small moments shape our identity and worldview. Opening the door to a subtle yet powerful affinity between artist and viewer.
Part of the municipal council’s 2026 cultural programme ‘Art, Memory, and Identify’, Ana António Gill’s exhibition, ‘The End of an Era’, marks a transitional moment in her artistic journey: signifying the closure of one chapter in the artist’s personal life and, simultaneously, the conclusion of a creative cycle. As the artist evolves, so does her work, allowing recent styles to give way to new approaches that more closely reflect her current emotional landscape and lived experiences.

The exhibition preview is on April 2, from 5pm to 8pm, and the exhibition itself runs for the whole month of April. The Municipal Gallery is on São Brás de Alportel’s main Avenida da Liberdade, N.º22. Opening times are Mondays 2pm-5.30pm, Tuesdays to Fridays 9.30am-1pm and 2pm-5.30pm, and Saturdays 9.30am-1pm.
Ana António Gill was awarded a first-class degree at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London and has exhibited in London and Portugal. Ana is a member of the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon.
