Learn about the incredible story of Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager who lived for 25 months in a secret annex above her father’s office in Amsterdam during the Second World War, at an exhibition entitled Anne Frank, a history for today, in Albufeira.
The diary of Anne Frank was first published in 1947 before being translated for the English market in 1952 and is now one of the most translated books in the world detailing the life of Anne Frank as she and her family hid from Nazis before they were found and taken to a concentration camp where she later died.
International acclaim
The exhibition has already received more than a million visitors in 150 different countries and is the most visited Dutch exhibition outside The Netherlands.
The exhibition was officially opened by Dutch and Portuguese officials on May 5 to mark the date of the liberation of The Netherlands during World War 2.
It is open to the public on weekdays from 9am until 3pm until May 17 at the Albufeira town hall, and from 10am until 5pm from May 18 until May 27 in the library at the EB 2,3 Franciso Cabrita school in Albufeira, and is free to visit.
