The Clube Náutico de Tavira (CNT) celebrated the start of the 2012/13 sailing season in the presence of London Olympics Laser Radial Class competitor Sara Carmo.
Organisers described the 26-year-old’s presence as “very important, an occasion which will be remembered in the club’s history for the inspiration provided to young sportsmen and women striving to compete at the highest level.”
Sara represented Tavira between 2006 and 2009 before leaving to study architecture at Lisbon’s Technical University and now wears the colours of the Clube Naval de Cascais.
The Tavira sailing school enjoys the full backing of the CNT, which values the sense of responsibility, awareness of nature and individual competitiveness the sport instils in sailors of all ages.
Registration is now open for all classes to both children and adults – future tuition will then be arranged at times to suit and depending on the number of participants.
