For the fourth year running, Boavista Golf Resort near Lagos hosted the Longest Day Golf Challenge finals weekend, in aid of the UK’s Macmillan Cancer Support charity, at the end of last month.
Charitable golfers have this year raised £540,000 (approximately €677,000) by completing in the famous Longest Day Golf Challenge.
In their bid to complete the sponsored golf marathon, nearly 500 teams took to the fairways and played an epic four rounds of golf from dawn to dusk, tackling 72 holes, 300 shots and a 32km walk on the longest day of the year.
The top four teams from the challenge were then invited to compete in the Longest Day Golf Challenge Finals weekend at Boavista.
Finals winners ‘Norfolk and Good’ comprised Andrew Hadley, Kevin Collins, Ian Malton and Robert Briggs from Weston Park Golf Club near Norwich, scoring 84 and seeing off the competition.
Claire Driscoll, Macmillan’s Golf Programme Manager, said: “This year’s Longest Day Golf Challenge broke previous records by more than £140,000, topping half-a-million for the first time!”
