An annual pig roast in aid of the Bombeiros will take place on January 22, with Boyzone singer and Coronation Street star Keith Duffy making an appearance at the charity event in Albufeira.
Bob and Lyn Geary, volunteer rally stewards for the Camping and Caravan Club at Camping Albufeira, have organised the event, which starts at 3pm.
Lyn Geary told the Algarve Resident: “Last year we had two actors from Coronation Street attend the event and this year we have Keith Duffy and are hoping to raise a lot of money for the Bombeiros over the day.”
Keith Duffy shot to fame first with his involvement in the five-piece Irish boy band Boyzone, which was formed in 1993.
The band continues to be one of the most successful groups in the UK and Ireland, with a total of six UK number one singles and four number one albums.
He made a break from the rest of the band when appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in 2001 and is now largely known for his role in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, where he has played the character of Ciaran McCarthy since 2002, although he still remains with the band.
Entry to the event costs €15 per person and includes food and drink.
