Charity concert in Lagoa to raise funds for local disabled man

Sixteen artists to take the stage next week to raise funds for adapted vehicle

A charity concert bringing together 16 artists will take place on Sunday, March 29 at 4pm, at Lagoa’s Carlos do Carmo auditorium.

The event will raise funds to help Lagoa resident Luís Franco adapt a car for disabled driving, improving his mobility and quality of life. Entry is by donation.

The show, titled “1 Stage, 16 Artists, 1 Cause”, will run for around two hours with a 20-minute interval. Performers include Ana Parrinha, Jorge Franco, João Arrobe, Ondina Santos, Ricardo Neto, Grupo de Cantares Fonte Nova, Beto Kalulu, Luana Velásquez, Ricardo Sousa, Paulo Cabrita, Teresa Agostinho, Paulo Cardeta, Jan Taken, Ally Garrido, and Joaquim Andres Guitarrita.

Luís Franco has lived with a 95% physical disability since infancy. Signs first appeared when he was six months old, and doctors later linked his condition to a possible fall during pregnancy and a medical error, he told SIC’s show Júlia in 2022.

Despite this, he has built an independent life. He has been married for over a decade, is a father and works for the local council of Lagoa.
