The last weekend of September was a powerful reminder of how much we can achieve together. At the Continente stores in Lagos and Odiáxere, Cadela Carlota volunteers collected an incredible 1,750 kg of dog food, 600 kg of cat food, and 465 kg of cat litter. These supplies will go a long way in supporting the animals in our care. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, and to the dedicated team of volunteers who gave their time. Our thanks also go to Animalife and SONAE/Continente for organizing the campaign.
This weekend, our volunteers will be everywhere — at Pingo Doce da Marina for the October 4–5 food drive, at the TIBI Animal Walk, and at our major fundraising exhibition in the heart of Lagos. The energy of this community is inspiring, but it also shows just how much help we need. With over 80 dogs and 50 cats in our care, every new emergency is a challenge.
Right now, we face an urgent situation: four tiny kittens, abandoned at the doorstep of Madrugada in Lagos. They are just three weeks old, receiving eye-drop treatment several times a day, and beginning to eat on their own. We urgently need a foster family to care for them, starting immediately. If you can help, please contact us — even short-term fostering can save lives.
Alongside the food drive, we’re excited to invite everyone to our special event at Armazém Regimental, Praça do Infante, Lagos, running from October 2-12 . Here, you’ll find a solidarity sale of merchandise, artisanal accessories, and wearable art — all crafted with love and dedicated to helping animals. Photographer Carlos Filipe will also present a moving exhibition of portraits. The exhibition opens on October 3 at 6pm, and on October 10 at 6pm he will present his new book. We hope you’ll join us, bring friends, and maybe take home something beautiful.
