Dutch pianist Nikola Meeuwsen returns to Algarve for special trio concert

Musician wins first prize at most prestigious piano competition in Europe

Algarve History Association (AHA) announces another performance at Quintinha da Música, near Tavira, by Nikola Meeuwsen, this time accompanied by violin (Noa Wildschut) and cello (Benjamin Kruithof).

The concert will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 4pm and will feature three trio works: Haydn piano trio nr 39 (Gypsy); Beethoven piano trio op 97 (Archduke); and Tchaikovsky piano trio op 50.

“Earlier this year, Nikola won first prize at the most prestigious piano competition in Europe – the Queen Elisabeth competition in Brussels, and in his busy professional life, it is amazing that he chooses to come to the Algarve to perform for us,” said Peter Booker, co-founder of AHA.

Dutch violinist Noa Wildschut has won numerous awards and at the age of 24 has already risen to the upper reaches of the international classical music scene. Benjamin Kruithof from Luxembourg is also a multiple prize-winner and has featured in recitals and performances all over Europe.

“This occasion is a rare opportunity to hear three talented performers at the pinnacle of their young professional lives,” said Booker.

Reservations, at €30 including interval drinks and petiscos (snacks), should be made through peterbooker1347@gmail.com
