Falésia Run promotes sport for all along Algarve clifftops

Non-competitive event links Praia da Falésia to Açoteias athletics track

The 2026 edition of the Falésia Run will bring sport and community together on Saturday (March 7) at 4pm for a non-competitive event set against the stunning clifftop scenery of Albufeira’s Praia da Falésia.

Part of the official Albufeira European City of Sport 2026 programme, the initiative is organised by AP Victoria Sports & Beach and Free Challenge and is designed as a “sport for all” event, encouraging physical activity, healthy lifestyles and social interaction among participants of all ages and fitness levels.

The routes – divided into a 6km walk and an 11km run – follow the top of the Falésia cliffs, offering sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean and a unique opportunity to combine exercise with nature. The event will start at AP Victoria Sports & Beach and finish at the iconic Açoteias athletics track.

Organisers say the goal is to promote the region’s natural heritage, encourage active tourism and reinforce the role of sport as a “tool for social inclusion and wellbeing” in the municipality of Albufeira and across the Algarve.

Supported by the municipal council of Albufeira and private partners, the Falésia Run 2026 will prioritise participation over competition, creating a “safe and family-friendly” sporting atmosphere.

Registrations can be made via www.freechallenge.pt, where full details regarding schedules, route information and participation rules are available. Cost is €9.50 for the run and €7.50 for the walk.
