Food lovers and explorers rejoice; it’s time for another gastronomic adventure! Field Trips Vol II, the second instalment of a series of intimate experiences organised by AUSTA, is happening on Saturday, October 18, and will, this time, take guests to Cabanas de Tavira for a “Feast of the Tides”.
The Almancil restaurant’s team created the Field Trips “to explore the landscapes, traditions, and communities shaping Portuguese gastronomy, history, and heritage beyond the restaurant’s walls”. The first trip took place in April 2025 in São Teotónio, Alentejo, where Chef David Barata and his team guided guests in search of wild mushrooms.

The second instalment, “Field Trip Vol. II,” will be held at the Forte de São João de Barra, an ancient 16th-century fortress perched on the edge of the Ria Formosa. Against this historic backdrop, in harmony with the sea and salt marshes, Chef David Barata and the AUSTA team will present a multi-course menu designed to honour the rhythms of nature and the cultural traditions of the Eastern Algarve, connecting place, produce, and people.
Guests can also choose to stay overnight within the fortress walls, in rooms where the memory of the Algarve meets the tranquillity of the natural landscape. Tickets for the gastronomic experience cost €210 and include drinks and wines. Overnight stays range from €180 to €235 per night.
