An amateur football match raised more than €500 for the Luís Figo Foundation which helps underprivileged children. The match was played last Saturday in Lagoa and The Hardly Athletic team of veteran footballers from England beat a team of Figo’s employees 8-3. Martin Cooper from the UK team said: “Figo was in New York, so could not be at the game but this did not affect the outstanding success of the day from our perspective. All our 20 players gave cash to the Figo Foundation, which resulted in us donating €515 to help underprivileged children. We would like to thank Paulo Rodrigues and the staff at Suites Alba for all their hard work and very warm welcome.”
