Four new waste water pumping stations to be built

Water management company Águas do Algarve has launched a public tender for the construction of four waste water pumping stations in Albufeira, Lagoa and Silves councils, worth around €3 million.

The primary aim of the project is to increase the number of areas served by the drainage network of domestic wastewater.

In the future Águas do Algarve also wants the deactivation of existing water treatment plants that provides a poor treatment service, which causes serious environmental problems.

The sewage produced in the municipalities of Silves and Lagoa will be conducted through these new pumping stations to the new treatment plant in Albufeira.

They will be located at Armação de Pêra (Pumping Station EE5), Lameira (Pumping Station EE7), Montes Raposos (Pumping Station EE8) and Alcantarilha/Pêra (Pumping Station EE9).
