The German School Algarve (Escola Alemã do Algarve) recently welcomed families and visitors to its traditional Christmas Bazaar, which took place in a warm and festive atmosphere on the school grounds. The event aimed to familiarise students with cultural traditions, strengthen the sense of community and support charitable causes.
A key feature of the afternoon was the varied stage programme, with contributions from all classes. The audience enjoyed a mix of music, short theatre performances, piano pieces and thoughtful as well as light-hearted presentations. A short appearance by the school’s newly founded band completed the programme.
Visitors were also treated to a wide range of culinary offerings. A colourful buffet, generously prepared by parents, featured a variety of homemade dishes and reflected the strong involvement of families in school life.
In the weeks leading up to the event, pupils had been busy crafting and preparing items to be sold at the bazaar. The results were displayed and sold during the event. Festive decorations across the school grounds, including a Moroccan-style tent, helped create a distinctive and welcoming atmosphere.
Another popular attraction was a raffle wheel organised by the Friends of the DSA association, offering prizes donated by parents and local businesses, highlighting the close ties between the school and the wider community.
The Christmas Bazaar was made possible by the commitment of numerous volunteers. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a charitable cause, reinforcing the school’s emphasis on social responsibility alongside cultural education.
