Indulge in Guia’s Giant Folar this Easter

There will be enough Folar for everyone!

The parish of Guia in Albufeira is gearing up for one of its most cherished traditions on April 5, Easter Sunday, with the return of the 22nd Folar Tasting (Prova do Folar) – and yes, the famous giant Folar is back.

Taking place from 4pm at the local sports ground, the event promises a lively afternoon. The highlight, as always, is the massive folar cake, which will be shared out for free among visitors.

Alongside the star attraction, visitors can browse stalls showcasing local crafts, sweets and regional snacks.

According to parish president Dinis Nascimento, the event has become a key part of local identity. “The Prova do Folar is already a reference in our parish, where we celebrate seasonal traditions in a lively environment where everyone is welcome,” he said.

Live music from groups Dabalada and Duo 64 will keep spirits high throughout the afternoon.

Organised by the local parish council with support from Albufeira municipal council, the event is free to attend.
