A new book described as a “modern fantasy novel for animal lovers” has just been published by British best-selling author and Algarve resident Alyson Sheldrake.
‘The Rainbow Bridge’ tells the story of artist Laura Adams, who is grieving the loss of her beloved golden retriever Molly which left her feeling heartbroken and alone in the world.
“Laura turns to the thing she knows best: her artwork. She vows to create a special painting in memory of Molly. But the canvas leads Laura into a world she has only dreamed about: Archaven—the land of the Rainbow Bridge—where her adored pet is patiently waiting for her,” says the book’s promotional blurb.
“As Laura journeys deeper into Archaven, and helps others to visit their loved ones, she discovers a darker force is at work. Can she keep Molly and herself safe from harm?”
The book has already been met with rave reviews, with readers praising the book’s uplifting and heartwarming theme.
“Weaving an intriguing plot through the author’s own work as an artist and the loss of a beloved pet, I followed Laura and Molly’s story as if it were my own, stepping in and out of this world of magical realism, and in the end, it made me think about loss in a new light,” wrote Kathryn Gauci, USA Today bestselling author.
“Alyson Sheldrake has created a beautiful, magical world in which the ordinary mixes effortlessly with the extraordinary and speaks directly to the child within us all. This is a gentle story with a very big heart, a novel that will resonate with anyone who has ever experienced the loss of a pet and who has wished that they could capture that one last opportunity to say goodbye. I found Alyson’s story to be both optimistic and highly uplifting. The Rainbow Bridge speaks directly to the soul and is the perfect medicine for all of us who have been broken by grief,” wrote fellow author Adrian Sturrock.
The eBook, paperback and hardback are available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited and the paperback can be ordered from any bookstore or library.
