In response, Loulé Environment Councillor Aníbal Moreno highlighted the work that has been developed in schools to educate children about the need to preserve the environment for their future.
Also contributing were awareness actions such as seminars related to climate changes, forest fire prevention, better energy efficiency and the construction of footpaths at Rocha da Pena and Fonte Benémola areas.
Meanwhile, Quarteira, in the council area, will be the starting point for an operation called Mancha Branca.
A joint initiative between Loulé Câmara, the parish of Quarteira, Four Seasons Resort in Vilamoura and NEUCE paint company, the aim is to improve the image of the towns in the council area through the painting of public spaces, especially vandalised and degraded buildings, as well as the removal of graffiti.
This will include the involvement of volunteers, associations and schools, with paints and other materials distributed to families in need for the exterior painting of their homes. It is hoped that the plan will be extended across the rest of the county in future.
Meanwhile, a protocol will be signed with the Policromia group, an association of young people who do graffiti art, to allow the use of specific spaces in Quarteira for youngsters to showcase their graffiti works.
