Maritime police seize more than 20 jet skis from Portimão warehouse

Jetskis and other ‘nautical material’ considered of ‘suspicious origin and destination’

Maritime Police, through the Central Criminal Investigation Unit (UCIC) and the Southern Regional Maritime Police Command, detected and seized more than two dozen jet skis and suspicious nautical equipment inside a warehouse in the municipality of Portimão yesterday.

During the operation, police refer to “more than two dozen jet skis, as well as trailers and spare parts for boats, in a space allegedly used to store nautical equipment of suspicious origin and destination, which shows signs of falsified technical documentation and other irregularities”.

All the equipment found was seized and evidence considered relevant to the investigation was collected. “The proceedings are being conducted under the direction of the competent judicial authority, and an individual suspected of involvement in the illegal activities detected has been charged”, says a statement in which the police force reaffirmed its “determination to combat maritime crime, protect maritime spaces and domains, and defend legality”.
