The recently expanded Tennis Academy at the Algarve’s prestigious Vale do Lobo resort is welcoming in the autumn season with a range of classes, coaching sessions and events aimed at players of all ages and abilities. From one-on-one tuition to social match days, players can engage with tennis and padel and grow their skills and confidence in whatever way suits them best.
One of the largest such facilities in Portugal, the Tennis Academy is home to eight hard courts and four artificial clay courts. As part of a series of strategic enhancements, following extensive investment by owner and operator Kronos Homes, two of the courts have this summer been resurfaced with high-performance flooring, identical to that used in major international tournaments.
Two new padel courts were also added to the Tennis Academy this year, bringing the total number of padel courts up to eight, in response to the sport’s growing popularity in Portugal and around the globe.
Coaching sessions and classes at the Tennis Academy are available to everyone from complete beginners to advanced and competitive players looking to work on their technical and tactical refinement, match play, mental preparation and fitness.
For children up to the age of 10, fun-packed ‘pre-junior’ sessions are all about motor skills, coordination and teamwork, while those who have progressed to ‘junior’ level are supported to build solid foundations and develop technique, strokes, tactics and discipline. All sessions are delivered by Vale do Lobo’s highly skilled and experienced coaches, who provide personalised guidance as they nurture youngsters’ blossoming talent.
For adult players, in addition to classes and coaching, Vale do Lobo hosts regular social matches and tournaments, encouraging players to connect and engage over their shared passion for tennis and padel. Events such as the Veterans’ Tennis Tournament, held at Vale do Lobo between September 29 and October 5, 2025, also provide unique opportunities to see world-class players in action on the courts.
The Tennis Academy has undergone a range of other enhancements over the past two years, all designed to maximise players’ experience of the resort. It now includes a heated swimming pool for aquatic activities and physical recovery sessions (in addition to general fitness and relaxation), a new fitness centre and a welcoming decked area.
The Academy is also home to a popular tennis shop stocking a wide selection of state-of-the-art equipment, apparel, footwear and accessories. Players can find everything from top-brand tennis and padel rackets to functional and elegant clothing and accessories, all aligned with the latest trends and from top international brands.
Vale do Lobo’s Tennis Academy is also home to the lively SMASH Restaurant and SMASH Sports Bar, providing players with the perfect spot to relax and recover after enjoying time on the courts.
