Superbike testing returns to the Algarve

The Algarve International Autodrome (AIA) will be hosting five days of pre-season testing for the Superbike World Championship and Supersport World Championship between January 16 and 20.
A number of teams have been confirmed for the testing stages at the Portimão track for the 2014 season.
Among them is Pata Honda SBK, which will premier its new Honda CBR 1000RR model using riders Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam.
Ducati will be testing as well after its worst year ever, and the pressure to recover from last year’s train wreck is high, especially as the whole team was replaced.
Another team that saw big changes to its structure and will begin its season in Portimão is PTR Honda, which will be working to improve its performance and climb to the top of the ranking in the WSS category.
Suzuki Crescent will be presenting Eugene Laverty, a racer who knows the racetrack like few others due to his history with local team Parkalgar Honda, while one of the most renowned two-wheel brands MV Agusta is also sure to attract attention.
Further teams participating in the testing include Aprilia, Mahi Racing Team India Kawasaki and Ten Kate Racing.
Tickets for the races will be available at the autodrome’s shop and cost €5 for one day, or €12 for a three-day pack.
It was also confirmed that the racetrack will be receiving yet again, for the seventh consecutive year, another edition of the Superbike World Championship between July 4 and 6.
