In retrospect it is unlikely that the Algarve’s Ricado Santos would have fared any better than the rest of the DP World Tour Championship field had he qualified in Turkey the previous week as European No1 Henrik Stenson delivered a master class in Dubai.
The imperious Swede dominated the Earth Course, ending the four-day climax to the season an incredible 25 shots under par and leaving a six-stroke gap to runner-up Ian Poulter who was in great heart himself as two rounds of 66 illustrated.
