Thanks to the amazing generosity of the local community and the dedication of our tireless volunteers, our recent food drive at the Continente stores in Lagos and Odiáxere was a huge success!
Together, we collected over 1,000kg of dog food, over 500kg of cat food, and 400kg of cat litter.
These donations will make a real difference to the many animals currently in our care. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, or helped spread the word. Your support means everything — especially at a time when need is high.
Unfortunately, the need is growing. Just last week, six tiny kittens were rescued after being abandoned beside a rubbish bin in Odiáxere – a sad but all-too-common situation. And it’s not just cats: our dog shelter has many animals needing care, exercise, and socialisation.
With summer here, we are urgently calling for new volunteers. Many of our regulars are away, working extra hours, or taking time to rest – and we now need fresh help at both the cat and dog shelters.
At the cat shelter, we’re looking for volunteers between 10am and 1pm, especially to help clean rooms, care for cats, do laundry, and give the animals some much-needed love.
At the dog shelter, we especially need help on Saturday and Sunday mornings, from 8am to 12pm, to walk the dogs and help them get the social time they need. This is vital for their wellbeing and adoptability.
If cleaning isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other ways to help:
- Help at our Saturday Farmers Market stall (which supports both cats and dogs)
- Drive animals to the vet
- Offer a foster home for a cat or dog in need
Whether you can give a little time or a lot, your help matters. We offer full support and training — and you’ll be met with wagging tails, happy purrs, and a lot of love.
